Out of hibernation

So the Leafs have a shred of a playoff hope and Spring Training is getting under way. I've been working on a number of projects, but mostly related to financial stuff. Though I've whipped up a few fun photoshops when the mood struck me after a Leafs game.

Anyway, I've got a few fun Jays related projects in the works, stay tuned!

Open an ING Direct account and get a bonus $25

One of the things I recently did to maximize my savings was open an ING Direct account.  They offer better interest rates and no fees which can really eat up your attempts at savings.  Transferring from my TD Canada Trust Chequing account to my ING Savings account is painless, automated and fee free.

Recently, ING offered a new program to kick start your savings, basically extending $25 to you if you open an account with them with a minimum deposit of $100. What's more, if you refer your friends or family with your Orange Key that you will be given, both you and they will get a bonus $25.

So say you, Sally and Joe each have $100, you first sign up using the Orange Key 35429107S1. That will net you $25 added to your account. Sally and Joe proceed to open a savings account themselves depositing $100 using the new Orange Key that you will receive. This will net both Sally and Joe a bonus $25 plus you will gain an additional $50 for referring two friends. So in under a week you and two friends can turn $300 into $425!

You can do with the money what you please after you open the account but ING Direct is so sure you'll enjoy their higher interest rates and no fees that they're willing to get you in the door for $25. Let's not forget your ability to then earn more money yourself if you tell more family and friends about the bonus potential.

A New Hobby, Maximizing My Savings

I've been recently developing a new hobby that is much more lucrative than scripting, being a sports fan and playing piano. Well financially that is.  Originally inspired by the Toronto Star's new Moneyville site,  I've taken it upon myself to analyze my spending and maximize my savings.  It doesn't sound too exciting at first read, but it can be real fun, seriously!

Roberto Alomar home run video off Dennis Eckersley 1992 ALCS

The moment the Blue Jays were not going to take any more deciding enough is enough, Alomar ties it in the 9th and they go on to win in the 11th and take a 3-1 lead in the ALCS.

Kessel ties it late in the third

Down 1-0 late in the third period after Roloson plays spectacularly against the Maple Leafs and a linesman blows down a debatable high stick making contact with the puck a second before a Versteeg goal, Kessel has a blocked shot from Phaneuf bounce straight to him and he quickly wrists it in the back of the net.

The Leafs would go on to suffer their first loss of the season in overtime after a Lebda penalty leads to a goal by Tavares.

Potvin vs Hextall radio call synced with video

Just thought I'd include the video to go with it.  The audio is just a tiny touch too early, but it works pretty well.
